Skate Flow with Owen (16+)

Service Description

Skate Flow classes are friendly and fun sessions for skaters ready to smooth and improve their dance groove skills, ran and assisted by our lovely members Owen (@leggsylennon) and Sonja (@sonjahmckinnon) Develop building blocks to give your skate flows a firm foundation, such as: - Finding and locking your feet to the beat - Basic steps to link into stylish sequences. Skates let you express rhythm and flow when moving to music. When doing this with a partner or a group of friends the energy really booms. Flow skating will explore jams and dance grooves that deepen your relationship with rhythm. Owen’s teenage years where spent mostly on wheels, 20 years street and park (ramp) skating on inlines. He is also an avid guitarist and played with numerous bands through his 20’s and 30’s. Owen tried quad skates when we opened our doors after his wife got lessons and talked him into it. He found an instant connection to moving with music and how skating seemed to go seamlessly with his previous love of music! Sonja got into skating through North Wales roller derby in 2016 and soon joined her teammates at skateparks too. In 2021 @merseyskatefriends introduced her to the IWF jam skaters, she was instantly inspired by the stylish moves. “The flowing footwork has been such an addictive discovery... the possibilities seem endless and that’s so exciting. As a drummer too, I adore the way jam skating is so deeply connected to music! Skating with Owen we’ve both learnt so much about flow, flair and getting creative with your own routines."
